March 2016 Scorcher Triple Post event results, etc
It seems it is taking me longer than normal to get the results sorted for loading into the Scorcher Results database – so while I sort out out the missing splits by watching the video footage
So, the first very rough set of results can be found here in pdf format – with the grand finale and all the heat details at this stage
First & Roughest cut of the Triple results can be found here
There are more than likely anomalies and wrong details in here – so give us until end of Monday to sort out. But do feel free to email any errors you notice in the results. Hopefully by tonight once I load to the database the majority of the issues should have been resolved

Recon Runs of the 100th Run course
As the run course for the Long Course at the Scorcher 100th event and the Wellington Half is located on private property it means there are limited options to access the full course for practice runs prior to the event day.
Therefore we have sought special permissions to gain access to this land on two additional days to offer you a practice run prior to event day. This is only available to those who have already entered into the Wellington Half or the Scorcher Long Course for Jan 24th . And is limited to a small number of runners.
The test group runs will occur on Saturday Dec 26th and January 9th (4 weeks and 2 weeks out).
Please note that you should consider these two opportunities a recon action and familiarisation run, not a race. We will be doing this course together in a group, re-grouping at various points.
The key area that we only have access for is from Shelly Bay up to Mt Crawford Prison for a limited time period only each time – please respect the landowners rights and stay out of this area otherwise! Thank you.
If you want to come on these recon group runs, you must:
- Be registered in advance for the Wellington Half or the Scorcher Long course to be held on Jan 24th
- Email the Angels (angel@scorching.co.nz) and request to be added to the group run list (both dates are limited in numbers)
- You then will need to report to Scorching Bay on the morning of your group run for 9:30am to sign in and be assigned to groups and hear the briefing
We will do one lap of the run course together, regrouping at various points around the course before continuing. We should be finished the lap by 11:30am.

And if you want to see images from the run course? — Check out our latest facebook album we posted last night

It’s time to dip your toes in the water again!
Quick email overview:
2015/2016 Scorching Triathlon season – Wellington, New Zealand
There is under 4 weeks to go until tri-time!
And we know a large portion of you have already started to plan your summer exercise related activities.
Are you one of them, or are you still waiting for the weather to decide when you are coming back to the water?
For those who are already entered – Congratulations! We look forward to seeing you this summer at Scorching Bay
If you are still undecided on what you are doing this summer, hopefully this email will help you with your planning and motivation.
Scorching Triathlons (November 2015 – April 2016)
Remember: If you enter the full Scorcher summer season before October 30th you can save yourself 20% – just click ‘Season Pass’ option
The 2015/2016 season – what to look out for…
The season is going to be a big one. Not only do we have six events between November and April we’ll also be celebrating our 100th event in January 2016.
Pre Xmas Scorchers,

We break the ice on November 15th with the first Triathlon of summer, (remember to locate your wetsuit before the weekend)

The December 6th event is guaranteed to be a ‘mint’ occasion.
The Big One, the 100th Scorcher! – 24 January 2016

To celebrate Scorching Events 100th event milestone we will be offering all normal Scorcher distances
PLUS Wellington’s first Long Distance Triathlon in nearly 25 years – the “Wellington Half†.
Race day is Sunday, 24th of January 2016 (Wellington Anniversary weekend) – but we are also planning some other social activities for the weekend as well (more details later).

However places are limited to 400 registrations across all course distances. Currently the event is over 50% filled (across all event options) with only 30 places remaining in the ‘Wellington Half’ category.
If there was ever a Scorcher you had to be at, this is it.
There will also be a limited edition ‘Scorcher 100’ shirt (available to order) and a special swim cap available at this event. Oh and did we mention that you’ll also receive a celebratory Kereru beer as you come over the finish line?
And to round out the Scorcher season:

The February 28th Scorcher will be the final chance for the ‘normal’ Scorcher distances
Then we bring the ‘fun’ to finish the season

On March 13th the Triple Challenge is back! Your opportunity to do a triathlon, once, twice or three times all in one morning. This was a huge hit last year when we piloted the new event concept.
We hope you are part of it this summer

And finally, April 3rd is the Teams Challenge,
This is your opportunity to race with and against your friends or workmates. Challenge them now!
It will be a great way to round out the summer.

We hope the above has something to get you interested or motivated to join us at one, or more, Scorchers this summer.
We look forward to seeing you on the start line at some stage this summer.
Yours in training

The first Scorching Duathon for 2015 is just around the corner. To be precise 17 sleeps or 2 and a bit weeks if you prefer a more vague sort of countdown. Either way it’s happening on Sunday 9 August 2015.
So if you want to show Mr Winter who is boss – we suggest lights, layers and action.
As per normal there is a range of course distances as well as team and individual options. So with something for everyone and whether you be a first timer or an experienced multisport soul we reckon you should give it a go. What else were you planning on doing on Sunday the 9th?

Scorching Duathlon overview for 9 August event:
Event Date: Sunday 9 August 2015
Location: Scorching Bay, Wellington, New Zealand

At this event you can expect something a little different from the typical duathlon format. It will instead consist of a run/cycle/run/cycle/run format. Consider this a great opportunity to master your transition skills! Note that the novice course for our newer duathletes however will remain the classic run/cycle/run format.
There will be three event distances available (Novice, Short, and Medium) for individuals and teams.
Additional important information if you are participating in this event:
- The late fee ($10) kicks in from 12:01am on Thursday August 6th 2015
