'Police & Allcomers' Tri (Feb 28th)

Event History & Background

The 'Police Tri' is one of the longest running triathlon events in the Wellington region, and was started in the mid 1980s.

It has gone through a number of different locations, starting at Lyall Bay as a Standard Distance Triathlon.

For the last decade the 'Police Tri' has been held at Motukaraka Point, on the Pauatahanui Inlet, North of Porirua and run over a Sprint distance course.

Until now this event has been organised by the local Police who have used it as their Wellington Police Champs.  Although the event has always been open to everyone else (the 'all comers').

For 2010, the Police have approached Fedude Sports, to help revitalise the event and widen the promotion of this wonderful event and course, out to a larger cross section of the triathlon community.

Therefore for this year we are excited to announce that Fedude Sports, has incorporated this iconic Wellington event into the normal Contact Scorching Triathlons series.  We have also added a shorter distance for those who might find the 750 swim too taxing, making this even more so a Triathlon for all.

With your support, we'll do our best to continue the legend of this great Wellington iconic Triathlon event - a real event with real history.

Read on for the who, what, when & how specific for this event.
