Ahhh yes, Valentines Day. Chocolates, roses and candlelit dinners.
Cupid's favourite day of the year, which also happens to be the day for
our very next Scorcher (in support of the Heart Foundation). Sunday
14th February.
Which got us thinking...we thought why should Cupid have all the fun?
So to make the most of the next Scorcher falling on Valentines
Day....we've created the Scorcher 'Couples Challenge'. If you are the
sort of couple that love all that mooshy lovey dovey stuff, well this
might not be for you... If instead you're the kind of couple that
prefer kicking each other's butt, then this will be for you.
The rules are simple:
1. You need to be a 'couple'
2. You need to click the special 'Couples Challenge' entry button when entering
3. The Couple's Challenge will only be held over the Medium course (750, swim triathlon or the duathlon)
4. At the end of the event, both of your times will be added together
to get your overall time & thus placing against the other sporty
couples
And for the Singles? Well heck, we understand we can't let the couples
have all the fun. Nothing worse than having to hang out with 'smug
happy couples'. We understand.
Therefore in Transition we will be having 4 bike racks. Short, Medium,
Long &.... Single. A simple concept really. If you are single,
over twenty, good humoured, and don't take yourself too seriously....
then you are more than welcome to place your bike on this rack irrespective of distance! you
never know who'll you'll meet! Remember, its not compulsory.....no
one is making you, but gee whizz what a great opportunity! When we
announced this at our last event there was much interest. And some are
already planning and amending their race numbers to include their phone
numbers on tear off tags. So clever are our Scorcher-ees.
We also encourage wearing A LOT of red. Bonus points for anyone racing in a Cupid's outfit.
Remember too - you have the opportunity when registering online to
donate to the Heart Foundation, we encourage you (if you can) to donate
a few bucks their way. A great organisation that funds research and
promotes heart health in order to reduce the rates of cardiovascular
disease in New Zealand.
Yours in training (and being cupid)
