Scorcher Discounts
- Full time students receive a 10% discount (Student ID is required regardless of how honest your face looks) – on all options – except for the Scorching Open Water at regular Scorchers
- Wellington Triathlon Club members receive a 25% discount (Honest faces and ID preferred) – on all options except for the Scorching Open Water at regular Scorchers
- Note: if you are a Student and a Tri club member, then only the Tri club discount will be applied
- If you are entering multiple regular Scorching events (highly recommended!) we offer a tiered discount structure when you book them at the same time. This is as an alternativeto the above Student and Tri Club member discounts ie. You can’t have your cake and eat it too (that would be nice though, we understand):
- Enter one event – No discount
- Enter two to four events – 10% discount
- Enter the full season – 25% discount
- Again please note: choose which discount option is best for you (as a student, it is better to take the student option, than the single event discount)
- Swim only options are a straight $20 basic fee only – there are no discounts for tri club members or students. Note Late fee still applies for this though
- There are no discounts available on the Scorching Teams Challenge in February, one price per distance is all that applies – Thank you

Entering on the event weekend
Completing a ‘Late Entry’ at Registration (space dependent)
Late entries at Registration incur an extra $10 fee above the standard online entry fee, and there are no Wgtn Tri Club discounts available (stuident discounts are still available)
PLEASE NOTE:
- Late entries spots are not guaranteed. The event could have already reached capacity and therefore entries will be closed prior. Please check our website for updates. To be safe, we encourage early entries.
- Late entries are available on a first come first served basis at registrations
- There are absolutely no late entries available on the event morning. You will be everso nicely ‘declined’ (registration the day before is the last chance to enter, space permitting).
If you have not been entirely organised during the week, and decide the day before the event that you would like to enter your day will go a little like this:
- You excitedly, run down to the registration venue the day before the event
- You cross your fingers and hope that there are late entry spots available (you prepare for the worst case scenario that there might not be…you will take the rejection like a man if you need to)
- If there are late places available you will then ‘jump for joy’ and complete the late entry form
- You will now smile nicely to Angel2 as you hand over your entry form and payment (cash or cheque only)
- Angel2 will process your registration and approve your entry thus empowering you to enter the event. Oh the power! You ‘jump for joy’ again
Additional registration Notes:
- Online entries close at 6:00pm on the Friday before each event, but
- From 11:59pm on the Wednesday before each event the late fee applies to all entry options
- If you are posting a cheque in for payment it must be posted no later than the Tuesday before the event date
- Late entries are $10 more per event than the basic online entry price
- The fields may sell out before the close off times stated above, to ensure your place we encourage you to enter early
- You can enter:
- as an individual (doing the whole triathlon), or as a team (of two or three, each doing a different part)
- one or more events at any time,
- up until December 5th (the week before the second event) , you can buy a Scorcher Season Pass. This will save yourself up to 33% (Note: if you do the first event, then decide to take up the season pass option, there is no further discount on the season pass even though you have already done one event. You will still be making a saving over the remaining events.
- Student Discounts
- Available to full time students only with Student ID
- Wgtn Tri Club Discounts
- Are available to current fully paid members of the Wellington Triathlon & Multisport Club

Scorcher Season Pass Rules:

- If you as a team, elect to take a Team Season Pass, the team members must remain the same for the full season
Refund Policies for Single event entries:
In case of injury or illness only, you have two options available for you to choose from:
- Up to seven days before the event: We will refund your entry fee less $15 admin fee if you inform us in writing (i.e via email). After this date no refunds will be given, however;
- Up to 6pm on the Friday night before the event, we can transfer your entry to a later event in the series (if there is a later event) if you inform us in writing (i.e via email).
There are no refunds or transfer of entry after 6pm on the Friday before the event.
Refund Policies for Series Pass entries:
- there are no refunds for missing individual events when entering under a series pass (your season pass already includes significant savings)
- if you have a major illness or injury that makes it completely impossible for you to partake in multiple events please contact us to discuss your situation before you miss the first of multiple events
Transferring entries between individuals:
Participants are not allowed to transfer their entry to another person. Anyone found racing under another persons name will not be allowed to enter any further Scorching Events. This is a Health and Safety issue.
Possiblility of event cancelation:
Should the event be canceled or modified due to dangerous weather conditions (as determined by the Race Director) no refunds will be given. This decision is at the complete discretion of the Race Director and is made in the best interest of all participants health and safety. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
Note: Since May 2003, the Scorching Events (now at 60+ events) have only been fully cancelled twice. Both events were in the winter Duathlon series and were cancelled due to extreme winds and rain. We have modified the running of three Triathlons (rain and wind combination and due to Council resealing roads) for participant safety. All decisions are made in the best interests of you the participant.
Scorcher Minimum Ages
We have a minimum age requirement for each of the event options. This is in place due to Health & Safety reasons and must be adhered to by all participants. Anyone found not adhering to the age restrictions will not be invited to participate in future events. Angels take these things seriously.
The minimum age varies depending on the course distance, and are as follows:
- For the short course the minimum age of all participants is 10 years old (as at the event date)
- For the medium course the minimum age of all participants is 13 years old (as at the event date)
- For the long course the minimum age of all participants is 16 years old (as at the event date)
