What are the special actions this weekend?

We have a new concept for the Scorchers. We will be holding a Teams Triathlon Challenge.

• All entries must be teams
• All teams are comprised of three team members
• All teams members complete a full triathlon
• There is only one distance option available (actually we have added a Novice Teams Challenge for the kids as well now, since it has been requested – see later for more info)
• The race will be done via a staggered start format, ie team member A starts 30 minutes before Team Member B, who starts 30 Minutes before Team member C – All get the chance to cross the finish line – then we compare the combined times of the team for the glory

What we want is you to get your workplace, friends or family together and come out and have a huge amount of fun at the Scorching Triathlons Team Challenge!

This still remains the Valentines Scorcher, so be prepared for

• Couples Challenge
• Singles Rack
• and plenty of red (again!)

Weekend timeline

Saturday – Registration – Feb 11th

Registration Location ASB Sports Centre, 72 Kemp Street, Kilbirnie (Opposite the Kilbirnie Fire Station – near Cobham Drive roundabout – click here for map

• Registration opens : 1pm
• Late entries (subject to availability, first come first served basis): 1pm – 4pm
• 2pm – Briefing for regular Scorcher participants (5 minutes)
• 3pm – First timers briefing – if this is your first triathlon, first Scorcher event or if you are unsure of anything, then this is the event briefing for you
• 4pm – Briefing for regular Scorcher participants (5 minutes)
• 4.15pm Registration closes

• All individuals and team members must attend one of these verbal briefings

Sunday- Event morning – Feb 12th

Event Location Scorching Bay, Wellington

• Transition opens – 6am
• Transition to be cleared by – 7.20am
• Normal Teams Challnege Event Starts
  • First team member – 7.30am
  • Second team member – 8.00am
  • Third team member – 8.30am
• Novice Teams Challenge event starts
  • All team members – 8.45am

Prizegiving – This will being after last participant finishes (approximately 10.30am)

We have heard that some of you are still hunting for the perfect team mates? (ie two people who are faster than you) Remember you can’t be too fussy, this is a Scorcher after all…

We have just opened a ‘Scorcher Surprise’ registration option for any individuals.

This means, you will be matched with two other participants and become a ‘Scorcher Surprise Team’.  Yes, we’re going to introduce you to TWO new friends, who you will join forces with on Sunday and all play nicely together.  Kind of like a special spot prize before you even start.

So, for all the ‘Nigel’s’ out there, enter online here Scorcher Surprise (Find me a Team) entry.

Now remember….just like when you were at school and used to get ‘billeted’ (do they still do that?), you can’t swap, complain or be mean to whoever you are placed with.  Nice, friendly, supportive behaviour is the only way for any ‘Scorcher Surprise Teams’.  Otherwise extra minutes can sometimes be added to your individual times.  Crazy how that happens sometimes.
